Ulka Sachdev M.D. (‘06) has been named the 2008 Wylie Scholar Award from The Foundation of Accelerated Vascular Research. Thethree year grant was awarded to support her research in understanding the mechanisms that support blood vessel growth, and to develop new therapies for those who suffer from peripheral arterial disease (PAD). PAD effects almost 12 million Americans and can lead to amputation of the lower limbs.
Ulka is currently an assistant professor of Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. She is a graduate of the Mount Sinai School of Medicine and completed her residency and Vascular Surgery Fellowship at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in 2006.
